Why Level 7

Why the Level 7 matters

The Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Beauty and Wellbeing have both called for tighter regulation of aesthetic injectables, with Level 7 named as the benchmark for practitioners.

Health Education England recommends Level 7 as the baseline qualification for practitioners pursuing a career in aesthetic medicine, and this Diploma is built to meet its 2016 qualification requirements for the delivery of botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments.

Level 7 is recommended, not yet required by law.

Nabila
Since starting the level 7 I’ve learnt so much about aesthetics. Not only have I had invaluable group sessions to develop my skills, I have also been given support with creating and running my business through diploma sessions and the Facebook group. Although it’s definitely a change in my career I’m confident knowing the support system in place.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find your answer? Speak to an Advisor.

Who awards the qualification?

OTHM. Your assessments are accredited and quality checked by OTHM, overseen by the Government’s Office for Qualifications (Ofqual).

How long does it take?

It can be completed in around 9 to 24 months. The deadline is 24 months, and if you need an extension we have flexible options.

How much does it cost, and can I pay in instalments?

There are two routes to the same Level 7 Diploma, Standard and Fast Track, each with its own fee. You can pay in up to 18 interest-free monthly instalments, in full, with a deposit up front, or pay for each stage when you attend it. One of our team will talk you through the options and set up an interest-free payment plan that works for your circumstances.

What if I do not finish in time?

You can work through the components in any order you wish, and your check-ins with the Level 7 Delegate Lead exist to keep you on track long before a deadline becomes a problem. Talk to the team as soon as your circumstances change.

What is the Diploma equivalent to?

Level 7 is a level of education equivalent to a master’s degree. The Level 7 Diploma is equivalent to 60 postgraduate credits. It is worth more credits than a certificate but is not a full master’s, and it can be topped up to one.

Is there a clinical exam?

No. Your practical competencies are evidenced throughout the Diploma. Your academic and practical portfolio is marked against a standardised marking scheme and moderated by OTHM at the end.

Are models provided for the mentoring days?

Yes. All models are provided for the training days, and we arrange the patients, the products and the aftercare. You turn up ready to inject under the supervision of our trainers.

How many procedures must I record?

40 in total: 10 observed and 10 performed toxin treatments, and 10 observed and 10 performed dermal filler treatments. All of them are signed off by a Level 7 trainer.

What are the SAQs?

Short answer questions. There are 40 of them, each around 150 to 800 words, and together they make up your coursework alongside the assignment and the literature review.

Who trains me?

Acquisition Aesthetics is led by surgeons, and Level 7 trainers meet stringent criteria before they can train on Level 7 training days. You can view our faculty.

Can international practitioners apply?

International students may be accepted if they can show an equivalent level of education. Speak to an Advisor to discuss your background.
